Yes. The minimum registration is $25 per walker, but you are encouraged to raise more. For $25, you will receive the Walk t-shirt. Walkers who raise more than $25 will receive additional items depending on the level of money raised. See the website for the fundraising levels and prizes.
When and where is the Fourth Annual Ribbon Walk for Cancer?
On Saturday, November 14, Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center will hold the fourth annual Ribbon Walk for Cancer. Registration begins at 9:00 AM. The walk will kick off at 10 AM at Festival Park in downtown Fayetteville.
To search online for directions to Festival Park, use the address 225 Ray Avenue, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
Where does the money go?
As a walker or sponsor, you’ll be helping cancer patients right here at home. Proceeds from this event will directly benefit patients in need at Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center. Through fundraisers, such as the Ribbon Walk, Friends of the Cancer Center provides prescription medicine, emergency funds for utilities, dietary supplements, transportation assistance, wigs, hats and scarves to Cancer Center patients.
Friends of the Cancer Center is supported 100 percent by your donations and gifts. Make your participation in the Ribbon Walk your pledge to help those who are fighting cancer.
How long is the route?
The route is five kilometers or 3.5 miles and includes several hills. We will be walking through downtown Fayetteville’s business district and through residential areas.
How many water stops are on the route?
Four water stops are located on the course.
Where are the restrooms?
Bathrooms are available in Festival Park. There are no restrooms available on the route.
What about parking?
Parking is free and available at Festival Park. There is a parking lot to the left of the park and other city lots downtown. Please do not park at any of the businesses during the walk. We do suggest that your team carpool to ensure that everyone has a place to park.
What about food?
Snacks will be available before and after the walk. No refreshments will be provided other than the water along the route.

Can we bring flyers of other events or election posters to hand out at the walk?
No. There can be no soliciting of any kind during the Ribbon Walk other than by approved walk vendors. There will be no distribution of pamphlets for events, political candidates, etc. The goal of the day is to celebrate cancer survivors and to remember those who have lost their battle with the disease.
Can I bring balloons to the event?
We ask that you do not bring balloons to the walk to be environmentally friendly.
What if I am unable to finish the walk?
If you are unable to complete the walk, you may stop at any water station and ask a volunteer for assistance. If you are not near a water station, there will be police officers on the route.

These groups and the volunteers who direct them help develop programs to assist patients with needs that contribute to the healing process, but go beyond the scope of Cape Fear Valley’s mission to provide medical care and treatment.
